Sonia Dridi, Cairo Reporter, 'Savagely Attacked

A correspondent for France 24 TV was "savagely attacked" near Cairo's Tahrir Square after being seized by a crowd, the network said Saturday. It was the latest case of violence against women at the epicenter of Egypt's restive protests. The news channel said in a statement that Sonia Dridi was attacked around 10:30 p.m. Friday after a live broadcast on a protest at the square and was later rescued by a colleague and other witnesses. France 24 did not give further details about the attack, but it said its employees were safe and sound, though "extremely shocked," and that it will file suit against unspecified assailants. The network, which receives state funds but has editorial independence, said it and the French Embassy were working to bring Dridi back to France. "More frightened than hurt," wrote Dridi in French on her Twitter page Saturday. Referring in English to a colleague, she tweeted: "Thanks to (at)ashrafkhalil for protecting me in (hash)Tahrir last nite. Mob was pretty intense. thanks to him I escaped from the unleashed hands." Tahrir Square was the main hub of a popular uprising that toppled longtime Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak last year. Since then, it has seen numerous other protests staged by a range of groups. No official numbers exist for attacks on women in the square because police do not go near the area and women rarely file official reports on such incidents, but activists and protesters have reported an increase in assaults against women. And although sexual harassment is not new to Egypt, suspicions abound that many of the recent attacks are organized by opponents of various protests in a bid to drive people away. Amnesty International said in a report in June that such attacks appeared designed to intimidate women and prevent them from fully participating in public life. The London-based human rights group has called on Egyptian authorities to investigate reports of sexual assault against women to counter the impression that no one will be punished.

Sandra Bullock Naked and Chelsea Handler naked on Chelsea Lately

Actress Sandra Bullock and TV show host Chelsea Handler stripped off for a shower scene for late night comedy show "Chelsea Lately.” The duo appeared in the steamy skit together to mark the show's move to a new studio. Bullock, 48, was seen interrupting Handler's shower at the start of the show to attack her "sham" of a programme and deliver a scathing message from TV talk show royalty Oprah Winfrey.Bullock wasn't the only big Hollywood name to make an appearance on Handler's show from her Universal Studios home - best pal Jennifer Aniston was her first guest. The former Friends star gave her pal an empty water container, explaining, "You're a big girl now... Every time you swear or sleep with a guest, you have to put money in that thing and then you want to fill it up... and then you're gonna give it to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital." Handler joked, "That means they're gonna get, like, a donation tomorrow... How much money do I have to put in each time I say, like, f**k?" Aniston responded, "Let's put a hundred in there." The actress was left a little red-faced half-way through the interview when Handler pointed out her prominent nipples, explaining, "Everyone here at work loves your nipples. Every time Jen comes on the show there's always something when her nipples are very very pronounced... Actually, I can see one!"

Jane DeLeon & Irma Rodriguez, Lesbian Couple, Files Federal Lawsuit To Stop Same-Sex Couple Deportation

A lesbian couple filed a federal lawsuit in California on Thursday seeking to solve their immigration woes and put a stop to the deportation of same-sex spouses.

The suit – which seeks class-action status – was filed on behalf of Philippines citizen Jane DeLeon, who was sponsored for a green card by her employer but can't get a waiver she needs to obtain residency here because the U.S. government doesn't recognize her three-year marriage to her American spouse.

The case is one of a number of challenges brought by same-sex couples – some of them facing immigration troubles – over the federal Defense of Marriage Act, a 1996 law that prohibits the U.S. government from recognizing same-sex marriages.

"It's clearly the kind of case where typically the waiver would have been granted, but it was simply denied based on DOMA," said Peter Schey, president of the Los Angeles-based Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, which filed the suit on behalf of the couple and DeLeon's 26-year-old son.But federal immigration authorities last year denied her application for a waiver on the basis of her 2008 marriage in California to 49-year-old American Irma Rodriguez, even though Rodriguez suffers from a medical condition that could make moving to the Philippines devastating to her health.

The government told DeLeon that Rodriguez did not qualify as a relative because of the Act, according to the lawsuit.

In April, immigration advocates sued in New York on behalf of several married gay couples, alleging the law violated their constitutional rights by preventing them from sponsoring their spouses for green cards.

ROBERT BLAKE ATTACKS PIERS MORGAN

Blake was arrested in 2002, almost a year after the murder of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley—a charge for which he was acquitted of in 2005. When Morgan said he wasn’t sure if the actor was telling the truth about the events surrounding her death, Blake and the host had a fiery exchange:

“Well, tell me where I'm lying, because if you don't know I'm telling you the truth, then you must have a little scratch in the back of your head about where I'm lying,” Blake shouted. “Tell me where I’m lying.”

“I’m not saying you’re lying,” Morgan told him, but was unable to placate the irate entertainer.

“You said I might not be telling the truth. What the hell is the difference?” Blake roared back. He eventually calmed down, citing his “thin skin” as the reason for his seemingly hysterical response.

“I've never allowed anybody to ask me the questions that you're asking,” Blake told him sullenly. “I allowed you to do that because I trust you. And I would have assumed that you and that guy in your ear would trust me. And if you don't, then we'd better start talking about 'The Little Rascals.'"

Mitt Romney Booed at NAACP Over Obamacare

Mitt Romney was booed Wednesday at the NAACP conference for promising to repeal the president's signature health care reform law, bringing him to an awkward halt in the middle of an otherwise civilly-received pitch for black voters.

It was an awkward moment that forced him to go off script, after giving a somewhat pained smile as the booing continued.

"I'm going to eliminate every non-essential, expensive program I can find, that includes Obamacare, and I'm going to work to reform and save --" Romney said before being interrupted for about 15 seconds.

"You know, there was a survey of the Chamber of Commerce -- they carried out a survey of their members, about 1,500 surveyed, and uh, they asked them what effect Obamacare would have on their plans, and three-quarters of them said it made them less likely to hire people," he said when the booing stopped. "So I say, again, that if our priority is jobs, and that's my priority, that's something I'd change and replace."

Romney wasn't entering a crowd that was likely to be convinced: a vast majority of black voters went for President Barack Obama in 2008. Still, Romney made an attempt at the Houston conference to tout his policies and say they would better serve the black community on education, unemployment and traditional marriage.Blacks are widely expected to back Obama, the first African-American president, in November, but the crucial question in a neck-and-neck race is whether Romney can lure enough black voters to make a difference in swing states like Florida and North Carolina.

McCain won a dismal five percent of the black vote, and Romney is aiming to bring the figure closer to the 11 percent that George W. Bush won in 2004.

His address to the NAACP can be seen as an effort to make Romney, a multimillionaire former businessman and investor with a reputation of not connecting with everyday voters, appear more attractive to a diverse electorate.

He has a daunting task. Republican-led efforts in several states to require voters to present government-issued ID at polling booths is seen as having a disproportionate effect on minorities and the poor, who vote more Democratic.

And he wants Bush-era tax cuts extended for all Americans including the rich, a position that might not sit well with working class voters.

Bob Kraft, Ricki Noel Lander Star In Bizarre Audition Video

According to Forbes, Bob Kraft was worth $1.7 billion as of March 2012. He has used that vast wealth to acquire, among many things, the New England Patriots. What he seems not to have spent much money on is acting classes or dance lessons. This bizarre video appears to be an audition for Rick Noel Lander that co-stars Kraft. She is an actress who attended a recent Celtics playoff game with Kraft. He told the Boston Herald that she was his "pal" and she has been described as his girlfriend in many reports about this video. With the plot about a budding relationship between an erotic dancer and an executive at Yahoo! seeming less than promising, Kraft steals the show with his dances moves and his profane dialogue. Barstool Sports (who had the video first and uploaded it to YouTube) writer Jerry Thornton told a radio station in Boston that the audition was for an upcoming Vince Vaughn movie.

The 71-year-old Kraft bought the Patriots in 1994 and has been a familiar fixture at games ever since. Until she passed away in 2011, his wife, Myra, was also a prominent face around the team. Noted for her philanthropy, Myra was honored by the Patriots during the team's recent Super Bowl run by an MHK patch on the uniforms.

Ohio freight train derails, causing fiery blast

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Part of a freight train carrying ethanol derailed and caught fire in Ohio's capital city early Wednesday, shooting flames skyward into the darkness and prompting the evacuation of a mile-wide area as firefighters and hazardous materials crews monitored the blaze.Norfolk Southern said it appeared about 11 cars of a southbound train derailed around 2 a.m. near Interstate 71, southeast of the Ohio State University campus. They went off the tracks north of downtown, in an industrial area blocks from residential neighborhoods.
Joel Priester said he watched the blast from his home two blocks away.
I saw flames, then I heard a loud sound, like a boom, and saw the flames shooting higher," he said. "It looked like the sun exploded."Three of the burning cars were tankers carrying ethanol, said Assistant Chief David Whiting of the Columbus fire division. After viewing the scene in daylight, authorities decided to let the fire burn out instead of trying to extinguish it.

Two people who ran toward the scene before the explosion were injured but were able to take themselves to a hospital, fire Battalion Chief Michael Fowler said.Norfolk Southern said none of its workers were hurt.Photographer Chris Mumma said he was more than 10 miles away in New Albany when he saw the night sky brightened by a "huge illumination" that he later learned was an explosion. He said he went to the scene to take photos and saw punctures on top of the train that were spewing flames 20 to 30 feet high. He also noticed an odd odor.
I noticed there was a chemical smell, and I was inhaling it so I backed up a little bit more because I wasn't sure what I was getting involved with," he said. Mumma said it made him so nauseous that he ended up at the hospital.
About 50 evacuees were at an American Red Cross aid site set up at the state fairgrounds.Among them was Linda Ogletree, who lives a block from the accident site.
I was in the house and heard the explosion, then I ran outside to see where it was coming from. The whole outside was lit up," she said. She said she walked to the end of the street with other people but took off running when an explosion occurred.
Norfolk Southern said two locomotives and three of the train's 98 freight cars were safely removed from the scene.

Rangers, Twins Game Halted By Lightning Bolt, Thunder (VIDEO)

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Talk about an electrifying performance.
Texas Rangers catcher Mike Napoli and Minnesota batter Ryan Doumit quickly scrambled to their respective dugouts and base runner Josh Willingham dropped to his knees when a bolt of lightning struck near Rangers Ballpark during Sunday night's game. The bright flash was immediately followed by a loud clap of thunder.
Rangers officials said the lightning struck north of stadium and didn't hit the facility. There were no reports of damage or any injuries.
While there were scattered storms in the surrounding area, no rain was falling when the lightning and thunder jolted everyone in the ballpark in the top of the fourth inning. That's the loudest noise I've ever heard. I thought Jesus was comin!," Twins center fielder Denard Span tweeted during the ensuing delay.

Chuck Morgan, the longtime public address announcer for the Rangers, asked fans to thank the grounds crew after the delay which started after what he called the loudest thunder clap ever heard at Rangers Ballpark. On the first pitch thrown by Oswalt when the game resumed, Doumit grounded into an inning-ending double play.
There had been a lightning flash and some thunder an inning earlier, and fans had been warned of the possibilities of storms in the area.

William Winans, 1-Year-Old Illinois Boy, Bitten In Crib By Escaped Ball Python

William Winans, a one-year-old boy in Mattoon, Ill., is recovering after an escaped python crawled into his crib, wrapped itself around his leg and bit him, ABC News and The Herald & Review report.

According to the below video from ABC News, Devin Winans, William's father, went into the boy's room after he heard him moving around in his crib. He reached into the crib and felt something "really slimy."According to follow-up report in The Herald & Review, the escaped python belonged to the occupant of a neighboring apartment. Mattoon police cited Shelby C. Guyette, 23, for not having a secure terrarium.

Sadly, there have been other instances of pet snakes escaping and attacking children. Last July, Jaren Hare and Charles "Jason" Darnell, a Florida couple, were found guilty in the death of Hare's 2-year-old daughter, Shaianna. The toddler was strangled in 2009 by a pet Burmese python that had escaped from its aquarium.

To hear from Sara Lacey, William's mother, watch the below video from ABC News. And click over to The Herald & Review to learn about the fate of the python.

Andy Murray v Roger Federer – Wimbledon men's final

The decision has been made. The roof will be closed. And that doesn't bode well for Murray, because Federer is the best indoor player in the world. Yes, the conditions will be a touch slower, but the lack of wind means Federer will be serving to a higher percentage and will be able to go for the lines a little more. There again, staying positive, can you imagine what the atmosphere will be like under the roof? And that's got to work in Murray's favour.

It's raining, it's pouring
Play continues briefly. 15-0, 30-0, 40-0 on Federer's serve. But ladies and gentlemen, play is now suspended. Murray almost gets eaten up by the groundstaff and the covers, he's in no rush to leave the court, but he eventually trudges off. The break couldn't have come at a better time for him. It's not clear yet whether this is a passing shower, in which case the roof won't go on, or whether it's going to last longer. If the roof is closed, we're looking at a delay of around 30 minutes or so. But trust the British weather to add to the drama.

Third set: Murray 6-4, 5-7, 1-1 Federer* (*denotes next server)
Murray looks rattled but just about stays in touch. 30-all. 40-30. Game. He lets out a little yelp. "Loving the blow by blow coverage and updating the page way more often than necessary," says James Burn. "Thanks to the EU for forcing mobile companies to charge more reasonable prices for data roaming." And we could soon be thanking the rain too – with Murray on the ropes, an odd umbrella or two springs up on Murray Mound.

UFC 148 SILVA vs SONNEN FULL FIGHT

Serena Williams Wins Wimbledon Title

WIMBLEDON, England — Serena Williams is back, and she looks almost as good as ever.
The 30-year-old American won her fifth Wimbledon title Saturday on Centre Court, beating Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to claim her 14th major championship. All the focus this fortnight has been on Roger Federer's quest to match Sampras's seven title successes at the All England Club - but Williams quietly beat the Swiss marvel to the punch in equalling Sampras's pre-Federer grand slam benchmark.

The 30-year-old former world No1 joins Sampras with 14 career majors from 18 finals with her emotional two-hour, two-minute victory.
Poland's first grand slam finalist in 73 years, Radwanska did a commendable job even making a match of it.
There were fears early for the former Wimbledon that she may suffer the ignominy of being on the wrong end of the first double-bagel final defeat in 101 years.
The first-time major finalist trailed 5-0 and 15-40, but gallantly saved two set points and held with an ace to avoid the same sorry fate as Dora Boothby, who was humbled 6-0 6-0 by fellow Brit Dorothea Lambert Chambers in 1911.
After finally getting on the scoreboard, Radwanska seemed to benefit from a timely rain break after the opening set and most definitely seized on some Williams jitters to stretch the match to three sets. After hitting a backhand winner on match point, she fell onto her back to the grass. She then rose with a grin as big sister Venus – another five-time Wimbledon champion smiled and applauded, along with the rest of the crowd. On Saturday, she finished with 17 aces — including four in one game — and a record 102 for the tournament.
It was Williams' first Grand Slam title since she won at the All England Club two years ago. Shortly after winning that title, Williams cut her feet on glass at a restaurant, leading to a series of health problems, including being hospitalized for clots in her lungs.I never dreamt of being here again, being so down," Williams said. "Never give up. You can continue."
Williams is the first woman in her 30s to win a Wimbledon title since Martina Navratilova, who won at the All England Club in 1990 when she was 33.
In the men's final on Sunday, six-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer will face British hope Andy Murray. The fourth-seeded Murray is trying to become the first British man to win the title at the All England Club since Fred Perry in 1936.

South Russia floods kill at least 99

Russian news agencies say the death toll in flooding after torrential rains in a southern region has risen to 99.

The state news agencies ITAR-Tass and RIA Novosti said the figure came from unnamed officials at the Interior Ministry. The overnight rains dumped as much as 28 centimeters (about 11 inches) of water on parts of the Krasnodar region, forcing many residents to take refuge in trees or on house roofs.

The region is about 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) south of Moscow, bordering the Black Sea.

Justin Bieber Pulled Over For Speeding On The 101

Pop singer Justin Bieber was pulled over Friday morning for speeding on a Southland freeway, the California Highway Patrol confirms to CBS2.

Bieber was driving his chrome-colored Fisker Karma on the 101 Freeway around 11 a.m. when he was pulled over by two CHP officers at Vineland Avenue and Ventura Boulevard, officials said.

Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine claims he saw Bieber driving at speeds of over 100 mph as the young pop star attempted to get away from paparazzi.

Zine says Bieber was weaving in and out of traffic, which prompted Zine to called 911.Looks like he wasn't so lucky this time. The LA Times reports that Bieber was cited for driving in a "reckless manner." Given the recent strange story of celeb autographs in exchange for getting off the hook, we can take a guess at what the late Beverly Hills police officer Roy D. Garrett would have asked of Bieber in exchange for no ticket.

For all the Beliebers out there looking to catch a glimpse of the "Boyfriend" singer, he clearly loves the Valley as this is not the first time he's been pulled over in that part of town. Friday, he was given his citation at Vineland Avenue and Ventura Boulevard.

David Beckham given MLS ban for provocative behaviour

David Beckham has been given a one-game ban and fined an undisclosed amount for his "confrontational and provocative behaviour" during LA Galaxy's 4-3 defeat by San Jose. The former England captain was involved in a scuffle on the pitch during the Major League Soccer match on Saturday.

Angry at perceived time-wasting, he kicked the ball at Sam Cronin as the player lay on the ground. After being booked, Beckham then argued with opponents after the final whistle.
Thursday's ban was the latest blow in what has been one of the more trying weeks of Beckham's career.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid AC Milan and England midfielder had been expected to be included as one of the three over-age players in Stuart Pearce's team for the London Games.

Chief London Olympic organizer Sebastian Coe is to discuss a "Games time role" with the globally recognized sports figure, who played an ambassadorial role in London winning the Olympics.

Michael Ybarra Dead

Freelance writer and Los Angeles native Michael J. Ybarra was killed while mountain climbing in the Sawtooth Ridge area on the edge of Yosemite National Park over the weekend, authorities said Thursday. He was 45.

Ybarra was climbing alone when he fell anywhere from 150 to 200 feet in this isolated and rugged region of the park, according to Kari Cobb, spokeswoman for Yosemite.

When he did not return home last Sunday from his one-day trip, Ybarra’s family and friends contacted Mono County search-and-rescue personnel.

After conducting an extensive search, Ybarra’s body was spotted by a Mono County helicopter Tuesday, Cobb said. Yosemite National Park authorities retrieved the body Wednesday when a helicopter became available to airlift him out of the area.

Accidents of this severity are not frequent, according to Cobb. More than 100 climbing accidents occur at Yosemite each year and of these, 15 to 25 parties do require a rescue, according to the park's website. The area of the Sierra Nevadas was without trails and only traversed by veteran climbers. After Ybarra, 45, did not return a friend's calls, emails or texts Sunday night, the friend contacted search-and-rescue personnel Monday, the Wall Street Journal reports.

A multi-agency search team could not find the climber Monday so a National Guard crew assisted the search via a Blackhawk helicopter, KRNY reports. The helicopter crew located Ybarra's body on the steep western flank between Cleaver Peak and Matterhorn Peak, the tallest peak in the Sawtooth Ridge. Although the body was found Tuesday, a helicopter was not available to airlift it out until Wednesday, the Times reports.

Marussia tester De Villota injured in test crash

Marussia's Spanish test driver Maria De Villota has been taken to hospital after being seriously injured in an accident while she was driving the team's Formula One car ahead of Sunday's British F1 Grand Prix.

The 32-year-old Spaniard was taking part in her first test at Duxford airfield when she crashed into a support truck after completing her opening installation lap. After treatment by trackside paramedics, De Villota was taken to the Addenbrooke's hospital.

Gary Sanderson, an East of England ambulance service spokesman, said that the driver had "sustained life-threatening injuries".

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred after De Villota had pulled up in front of her mechanics after completing her first lap. As the mechanics approached to wheel the car back for service, it accelerated forwards and crashed into the stationary vehicle parked nearby."Maria has been transferred to hospital. Once her medical condition has been assessed a further statement will be issued."

BBC radio presenter Chris Mann, who witnessed the crash, said De Villota's car had ploughed into the truck after suddenly accelerating.

"She got into the car, fired it up and did a test run at probably about 200mph in the rain," Mann said.

"The car was slightly misfiring but there didn't seem to be any concerns.De Villota is the daughter of former F1 driver Emilio de Villota and joined Marussia as a test driver at the start of this season, becoming the sport's first full-time female driver since Italian Giovanna Amati with the Brabham team in 1992.

De Villota had previously tested for Renault and had racing experience in Spanish F3 and the Daytona 24-Hours.

The Russian-owned team started in Formula One as Virgin Racing in 2010 and rebranded as Marussia for the start of the current season. It has yet to pick up a point this year ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Jessica Sanchez, 16, who lost the American Idol Season 11 title from Phillip Phillips last Wednesday, May 23, was chosen to sing US national anthem, with Natalie Cole, Trace Adkins, and American Idol Season 5 alumni Chris Daughtry as among other performers that night. The performance was significant to Sanchez given that she has military connections in her own family. Her father, Gilbert Sanchez, currently stationed in Singapore, has served several tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait with the U.S. Navy. Meanwhile, Sanchez’s grandfather Edward M. Bugay is a retired Navy veteran.

Jessica Sanchez won the praises from the judges and her fans worldwide and the American Idol three judges. Her duet with Jennifer Holiday singing “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” was touted as one of the best, if not the best, among her peformances in the whole Season 11 of the American Idol.

Children killed in 'massacre' in Syria's Houla

Government troops shelled a string of villages in central Syria before pro-regime thugs swept through the area, shooting people in the streets and in their homes in attacks that killed more than 90 people, activists said Saturday.

The assault on Houla, an area northwest of the central city of Homs, is one of the bloodiest single events in Syria’s 15-month-old uprising.

Activists from the region said regime forces peppered the area with mortars following a large anti-regime protest on Friday. After the bombardment, pro-government thugs known as shabiha raided the villages, killing men on the streets and stabbing women and children in their houses.

Amateur videos posted online showed scores of dead covered in sheets and blankets, some covered with chunks of ice to preserve then until burial. One video shows 14 dead children lined up on the ground, shoulder to shoulder. Another shows at least a dozen more lying on what appears to be the floor of a mosque, some with holes in their heads and faces.A member of the fragmented group that says it speaks for Syria's political opposition said Assad's forces had killed "entire families" in Houla in addition to the shelling.
"The Syrian National Council (SNC) urges the U.N. Security Council to call for an emergency meeting... and to determine the responsibility of the United Nations in the face of such mass killings," SNC spokeswoman Bassma Kodmani said.
Opposition activists said Syrian forces opened fire with artillery after skirmishing with insurgents in Houla, a cluster of villages north of the city of Homs, itself battered by shelling.
Syria calls the revolt a "terrorist" conspiracy run from abroad, in a veiled reference to Sunni Muslim Gulf powers which call for arming an insurgency led by Syria's majority Sunnis against Assad, a member of the minority Alawite sect.

Basketball brawl in China - New Orleans Hurricanes vs. Zhejiang Lions

A brawl broke out during an exhibition basketball game in China between the New Orleans Hurricanes and Zhejiang Lions, according to description accompanying the video of the fracas on YouTube .

In the video, it appears that almost every player from each team got involved as the fight made its way down the court. It looks as if several objects are being thrown from the stands and at the end of the video, one of the players involved is shown launching a chair into the crowd.

According to the YouTube description, spectators said that the fight was sparked by a Hurricanes player striking a Lions player. This appears to be at least the third melee to erupt during an exhibition basketball game in China in less than a year. Last summer, Georgetown's squad and the Bayi Rockets engaged in a bench-clearing fight with more than nine minutes left in the fourth quarter. The exhibition was called off.

A few months later, the Foshan Dralions and Australia's Melbourne Tigers brawled in an exhibition and it appeared as if some Dralions players used chairs as weapons.

Streaker Interrupts Cardinals-Phillies Game At Busch Stadium

Before the seventh inning of the Cardinals-Phillies game could get underway on Thursday night, fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis were treated to the sight of a fully naked streaker galavanting around the outfield. The man was run down and tackled by stadium security, who took the time to cover him up before escorting him off the field.

The fans, at least those in the video above, didn't seem to mind the interruption. One fan could be even heard saying that witnessing the streaker was "better than a no-hitter." Scroll down for photos.

Perhaps the only surprising the things about this incident is that it didn't happen during an Orioles game.

'American Idol' Finale: Phillip Phillips Crowned Winner

The lights were dimmed, the votes were counted, and Phillip Phillips became the new "American Idol."

As expected, Phillips beat out Jessica Sanchez on Wednesday's (May 23) Season 11 "Idol" finale, live at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre. Phillips topped Sanchez after a reported 132 million votes were cast — "a new world record," according to host Ryan Seacrest.

Phillips teared up while performing his winning song "Home," while confetti rained down on the stage around him. The Leesburg, Georgia, native has been a cool cucumber all season long, but he broke down in the moment, just as he did during his hometown visit last week.

Phillips didn't finish the song, but strolled off stage and into the arms of his family, who were waiting in the first few rows. As streamers fell and the band played on the stage behind him, Phillips hugged his family members, and later judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. Then Hollie Cavanagh took to the stage for a rendition of "Never Walk Alone," whereupon she was joined by Jordin Sparks and a full choir. Joshua, Colton, DeAndre, Heejun and Jeremy (with an emphasis on Joshua) then performed a tribute to the Bee Gees in memory of Robin Gibb, which was a little overdramatic, in typical Joshua fashion, but also heartfelt.

Jessica wasn't cheated out of her celebrity duet after all, teaming with Jennifer Holliday for a rousing rendition of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," with Jennifer making more terrifying, distracting faces as she performed than Scotty McCreery and Phil-Phil combined. (If there aren't gifs all over the internet within 10 minutes of the show ending, we should just turn the whole thing off.) Snark aside, it really was spectacular, and Jessica's range and control are truly out of this world. It's hard to believe she's only 16 -- no matter how frequently the judges hammer it home -- on numbers like that, holding her own opposite a Broadway legend who would've blown most performers right off the stage.

Aerosmith closed out the show, with Steven Tyler generally behaving like he was on an acid trip while on stage (what else is new?) as the band cycled through a medley of hits. With only two minutes remaining in the show, Jessica and Phillip (sat on a stool -- perhaps because of his rumored health issues) sang "Up Where We Belong," because that entirely superfluous performance was far more meaningful than the rumored tribute to Donna Summer that the Top 6 girls were supposed to do.

And then, the results were announced, and Phillip took up his guitar for one last performance of "Home," struggling to fight back the tears.

Lolo Jones: Virginity Harder than Training for Olympics

One of America’s best female hurdlers is a virgin, a personal choice, she said, that has been more difficult than training for the Olympics.

In an interview with HBO’s “Real Sports,” U.S. hurdler Lolo Jones acknowledged that she has maintained her virginity, describing it as the most challenging thing she’s faced to date.

“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” she told HBO’s Mary Carillo. “Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college has been trying to stay a virgin for marriage. I’ve been tempted, I’ve had plenty of opportunities.”

Jones, 29, is expected to be one of the favorites in the 60-meter and 100-meter hurdles at this summer’s Olympics in London. She’s trying to bounce back from tripping on the penultimate hurdle and finishing in a disappointing seventh place in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 Olympics. Her virginity, however, is something she’s maintained throughout her training, even if it has hindered her attempts at landing a boyfriend.During her interview with HBO, she discussed how keeping her virginity can make dating more challenging and how she favors Twitter for finding a boyfriend over online dating sites. Jones is not the only high-profile athlete whose virginity is a topic for public discussion. Dating website AshleyMadison.com recently offered $1 million to anyone who could prove that New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow was no longer a virgin. Tebow had previously stated that he was also waiting until marriage to have sex.

Perhaps if Jones can win gold in London then she'll celebrate by Tebowing. She barely missed out on winning the gold medal in 2008, leading the race with two hurdles to go. But she clipped the final hurdle, stumbled to thee ground and finished in seventh place.

"I messed up and it cost me the gold medal," the former LSU track star said earlier in May. "The good thing about failure is that if you learn from them they can make you such a stronger person and there is not a day that has gone by that I have not thought about that race."

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb dies aged 62

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has passed away today aged 62.

The musician died after undergoing intestinal surgery and due to his long battle with cancer.

'The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time,' family spokesman Doug Wright said.
The father-of-three had been battling colon and liver cancer.

Fears for the star's health were first raised last year when he appeared looking gaunt on a TV show to promote his single for Poppy Day.The siblings, whose catalogue includes Massachusetts, I've Gotta Get a Message to You, How Deep Is Your Love and Stayin' Alive, established their pop legacy by placing their falsetto harmonies at the centre of the 70s disco boom.

It was an era whose look they also captured, posing for the cover of the Saturday Night Fever album with toothy smiles, bouffant hair and tight white outfits.

Born on the Isle of Man to English parents on 22 December, 1949, Gibb started out performing alongside his brothers as a child act encouraged by their father Hugh, a band leader, and their mother Barbara, a former singer."Robin's wife, Dwina and son, Robin-John, his son Spencer and daughter Melissa have been at his bedside every day, talking to him and playing his favorite music to him," Gibb's doctor, Dr. Andrew Thillainayagam said in April. "They have been tireless in their determination never to give up on him."

Robin and his brothers, Barry and Maurice (who died in 2003 due to complications from a twisted intestine), formed The Bee Gees in the late 1960s. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 with hits like "Stayin' Alive," "How Deep Is Your Love" and "I Started A Joke."

Brett Lawrie Ejected: Blue Jays' 3B Throws Helmet That Hits Umpire Bill Miller After Called Strike

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie went nuts after a called third strike tonight. The pitch was pretty far off the plate, and Lawrie was completely in the right for being pissed off about the call. But then, he spiked his helmet...and the helmet hit home plate umpire Bill Miller. Not good. Lawrie will likely face a suspension for that one.

The situation that the call was made in was absolutely terrible for Lawrie and the Blue Jays, in the bottom of the ninth inning with one out in a one run game. If Lawrie got on base, the Blue Jays would have had at least a hope at a rally.

Things eventually got worse (somehow) in Toronto, as a fan threw a beer at Miller as the umpires were exciting the field after the game.

Rogier Meijer wordt getroost door zijn dochter Saar

While most have witnessed the familiar scenes of unconstrained elation after a hard-fought team victory, witnessing the agony of defeat to its fullest extent can be just as powerful after a heartbreaking loss.

On Sunday, spectators observed that firsthand when Dutch soccer team De Graafschap were relegated from the Eredivisie after a 1-1 draw in their playoff against FC Den Bosch.

As midfielder Rogier Meijer sat hopelessly on the pitch after the game, his young daughter, dressed in her father's jersey, walked over to console him as he sat on the field reflecting on the loss.

Britney Spears, Demi Lovato are new 'X Factor' judges

Britney Spears stands close to Simon Cowell at the 2012 Fox Upfront presentation held at Central Park’s Wollman Rink on Monday (May 14) in New York City.

The 30-year-old pop star was joined by Demi Lovato, who wrapped her arm around L.A. Reid.Fox gave no details of their contracts but Spears has been widely reported to be getting $15 million a year for "X Factor" gig, which would make her one of the highest-paid TV reality show judges.

Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne were among other names rumored to have been approached or in talks with Cowell about taking part in "X Factor".

Cowell launched the U.S. version of "X Factor" last September with great fanfare and boasts that it would topple ageing "American Idol" as America's most-watched TV show.

But the show mustered only about 13 million viewers - about half the audience for "American Idol" - and many critics disliked its brash, noisy production and felt it added little new to the crowded TV singing contest field.

Fox and Cowell are still yet to announce a new host after firing little-known Briton Steve Jones in January.

"The X Factor" faces further challenges in its second season following news on Sunday that NBC will be airing its hit contest "The Voice" in the fall of 2012, as well as the spring.

Jermaine Paul Wins 'The Voice' Season 2

After Christina Aguilera cat fights, some stellar and not-so-stellar performances, and many more Purrfect moments, "The Voice" has crowned its Season 2 winner: Jermaine Paul, representing Team Blake.

Team Cee Lo's Juliet Simms came in second; Team Adam's Tony Lucca came in third; and Team Christina's Chris Mann came in fourth.

Season 2 winner Jermaine -- a former back-up singer for Alicia Keys -- was the last man standing in Tuesday's Season 2 finale on NBC, which boasted celebrity performances, plus more songs from the four finalists and other favorite former contestants. The show started off exciting enough, with a fabulously fantastic performance of the Jackson Five's "I Want You Back." I'm slightly biased since it's my second favorite song of all time, but beyond that, the performance was a blast of energy that kicked off the show. It was hands down one of the most fun performances on the show this season, courtesy of Jermaine Paul and an assembled crew of eliminated boys: Jamar Rogers, whom we miss dearly; Pip, whom we also miss dearly; and James Massone, who wore a headband again.

Our first montage of the night was a blooper reel, and it was funny enough, sure. We got to see the coaches giggle and make funny faces and say silly things about each other. But little did we know that the montages would not be so welcome throughout the rest of the evening, multiplying with greater frequency than the Saw movies and offering less and less creative insight into the inner workings of Adam, Blake, Cee Lo and Christina. Did we really need three minutes of Adam and Blake talking about their platonic bromance?

Cole Hamels Admits To Hitting Bryce Harper With A Pitch ~ Major League Baseball

WASHINGTON -- Cole Hamels admits it: He plunked rookie phenom Bryce Harper on purpose.

"I was trying to hit him," the Philadelphia lefty said. "I'm not going to deny it."

That startling bit of honesty came after Hamels nailed the Washington teen with a fastball in the small of the back his first time up during the Phillies' 9-3 win Sunday night. The candid remark is also certain to cost Hamels a suspension from Major League Baseball.

Harper came up with two outs in the first inning and Hamels promptly drilled the 19-year-old.

Why, exactly?

"That's something I grew up watching, that's kind of what happened. So I'm just trying to continue the old baseball because I think some people are kind of getting away from it. I remember when I was a rookie the strike zone was really, really small and you didn't say anything because that's the way baseball is," Hamels said.

"But I think unfortunately the league's protecting certain players and making it not that old-school, prestigious way of baseball," he said.

In other words, Hamels said, "It's just, `Welcome to the big leagues.'"

Harper quickly evened the score with Hamels. After taking third on a single, Harper broke for the plate when Hamels made a pickoff throw to first. Harper stole home, sliding in safely for the first swipe of his eight-game big league career.Hamels means (I think) that Harper has had it too easy so far. He's just 19 years old (if you hadn't heard) and has been playing like a veteran. Coming into Sunday, he had four doubles and five walks in 29 plate appearances. He's been hitting the ball hard and avoiding swinging at pitches out of the zone. Hamels hitting Harper is the pitcher taking back the inside part of the plate, while also reminding the rookie to mind his elders.

But what Hamels also did was baseball speak for "We respect you." Harper, and the Nationals. Washington took two of three games in the series and showed no fear of the Phillies. That was evident even in the loss Sunday when Harper, two batters after getting plunked, stole home on Hamels' pickoff attempt to first base. Nats pitcher Jordan Zimmermann also retaliated conventionally by hitting Hamels with a pitch later in the game. Ah, the hazards of sending messages in the National League.

Will Rhymes hit on forearm by pitch, collapses on field

The Rays-Red Sox game on Wednesday night took a scary turn in the eighth inning when Tampa Bay's Will Rhymes collapsed on the field shortly after getting hit in the arm by a pitch from Boston's Franklin Morales.

Morales' fastball nailed Rhymes in the right arm, causing the second baseman to immediately lose his footing and fall down in pain. Manager Joe Maddon and a trainer ran onto the field to attend to him and Rhymes eventually walked to first.

Once Rhymes got to first, he gestured to the coaching staff that he wanted to come out. Then he took a few steps and collapsed, falling into the arms of first base coach George Hendrick.

The 29-year-old remained down for several minutes before finally moving on his own. He sat up slowly as the medical staff attended to him and was eventually carted off the field. After the game, Rhymes spoke of becoming dizzy and nauseous after he walked to first."You saw the rest. I didn't get real far," Rhymes said.
On Morales' fastball, Rhymes said: "Firm. That one was firm. It literally hit me squre on the bone. But they say it's one of the strongest bones in the body. Thank God."Rhymes, 29, signed a minor league contract with the Rays in January and entered Wednesday's game hitting .273 in 13 games. He was released by the Detroit Tigers after the 2011 season.

I'll Have Another Wins 2012 Kentucky Derby At Churchill Downs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — I'll Have Another caught Bodemeister down the stretch and pulled away in the final furlong on Saturday to win the Kentucky Derby.
Jockey Mario Gutierrez, riding in his first Derby, guided the 3-year-old colt ahead of Bob Baffert's Bodemeister and a late closing Dullahan to win on a fast track.
It was trainer Doug O'Neill's first Derby victory. He had never finished better than 13th in the Derby with two other horses.
I'll Have Another, the Santa Anita Derby winner, went off at 15-1 in one the deepest and evenly balanced fields in recent years to win by 1 1/2 lengths.
The chestnut colt, owned by J. Paul Reddam, finished the 11/4-mile race in 2:01.83 in front of a Derby-record crowd of 165,307.
The 20-horse field was expected to see a fast pace set by Trinniberg. Instead, Bodemeister rocketed right to the front through impossibly fast fractions. That pace proved his undoing.I'll Have Another paid $32.60, $13.80 and $9. Bodemeister returned $6.20 and $5.60 and Dullahan paid $7.20.

Diaz vs Miller Full Fight (HD)

Two rock-solid Lightweight fighters collide in the UFC on FOX 3 main event later this evening (May 5, 2012) at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J., proving a vexing test of will for both Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.

In Diaz's case, he'll have a chance to showcase his ever-improving striking, which lit up and beat down the game but outmatched Donald Cerrone in December. It was a showcase performance for Nate, who really seems to be coming into his own with on-point boxing and a nimble sense of when to engage and when to evade.

Miller's impressive seven-fight win streak marked him as an elite contender, until he ran into Ben Henderson, whose bigger frame and punishing physicality delivered a vicious beating that left the scrappy Miller in rebuilding mode. After submitting the talented but inconsistent Melvin Guillard, Miller needs a victory to insert himself back into the conversation of who the top contenders really are.

Body types play a huge role in this match up, as Diaz' six-inch height and considerable reach advantage will force Miller's hand. Jim is a competent boxer but not in Diaz' class, especially with Nate's increased volume of late. Diaz, however, relies on the threat of his jiu-jitsu and stifling guard to discourage foes from taking him down and, hopefully, riding their way to a cautious but top-game-dominated decision. That's exactly how Miller overwhelms people, however, and the fact that he'll be giving away too many advantages on the feet forces his hand somewhat.

Mayweather Vs. Cotto: Predictions From Zab Judah, Seth Mitchell And Lamont Peterson

Big fights mean big fighters offering up picks and opinions on the evening's action, and right now there's no bigger fight going down than Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto. The two men meet on an HBO pay-per-view clash on Saturday night in what should be a very highly watched event.

Zab Judah spoke to InsideHBOBoxing.com about the fight, having good perspective as he has faced both men in his career. Here's what his final thoughts were on how the fight goes:

I expect Cotto to come to fight. But it's not going to be enough. I've got Mayweather by ninth or 10th-round stoppage. I've had an opportunity to watch him train lately, and he's been looking good. So I'm looking for Floyd to go in there and put on a clinic.

Zab did give credit to Cotto as the second heaviest hitter he has faced in his career.

Rising heavyweight star Seth Mitchell spoke to the same site after his tremendous win over Chazz Witherspoon last weekend and added his thoughts:

"Cotto can crack. And Floyd has shown that he can get hit, but he's shown that he can come through adversity," he noted. "In his last couple of fights, he ain't been moving, he's been standing right there in the pocket, putting that shoulder up and sharp shooting. He's a surgeon in there, and we already know he's got the dog in him. If you want to stand there and bang with him, he can do that too, and he got the best defense out there. So it's going to be an uphill battle for Miguel Cotto."

Finally, MMA Fighting's Luke Thomas caught up with Lamont Peterson to ask his thoughts on the clash. Peterson, who is preparing to defend his title in a rematch against Amir Khan, joined in the chorus of fighters picking Floyd:

American Idol': Skylar Laine Eliminated

After weeks of wowing “American Idol” judges, the Mississippi native was eliminated during Thursday night’s results show.

Throughout the season judges proclaimed Laine of Brandon the “rockin’ country girl” and praised her strong performances. Laine excelled performing such hits as, “Shameless,” “Fancy,” and “Heard It Through the Grapevine,” giving each song her own rocking, country twist that carried her through to the Top 5. On Wednesday night’s show, judges told her that her performance of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son,” was one of her strongest performances.
“You are born to be on stage,” judge Randy Jackson said Wednesday. “Another outstanding performance,” and on Thursday night’s show, during a recap of Laine’s Wednesday performances, mentor Jimmy Iovine said Laine is an energetic performer. After a season-high of nearly 60 million votes and a torturous back-and-forth from host Ryan Seacrest, it was revealed that Skylar had received the fewest number of votes and was eliminated from the competition. Although the young country singer didn't have her best night on Wednesday -- and Hollie made a major comeback -- many think she shouldn't have been eliminated.

"She doesn't deserve to go home because of that," record executive Jimmy Iovine said during the show. "But it was less than I know she's capable of."

Upon finding out her fate, Skylar said, “I love you. It’s alright," and then took the stage to perform Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder & Lead."

Skylar's dignified sign off had judge Jennifer Lopez in tears. Randy Jackson said every week is going to be tough now, because this is the best top five "Idol" has ever had and Steven Tyler agreed.

Violet D'Mello, Tourist, Mauled By Cheetahs In South Africa As Husband Photographs Attack

Violet and Archibald D'Mello were posing with two cheetahs at the Kragga Kamma reserve in South Africa when one of the animals began attacking the woman, leaving her husband to photograph the event.
The British couple was on vacation in Port Elizabeth when they decided to stop at the reserve on April 28.Violet, Archibald and a family with children entered a petting area with two "completely tame" male cheetahs.
The attention seemed to excite the cats, and one began attacking a young girl.
When Violet tried to intervene, one of the cheetahs jumped on her from behind, the Sun reports. And when a worker fended off the animal, the other cheetah pinned down the tourist, who eventually played dead to avoid further injury.
Armed only with his camera, Archibald managed to capture a series of terrifying photos of his wife's attack. Although Violet calls the experience a "nightmare," she acknowledges the animals may have not had malicious intentions.
"They weren’t being vicious. You could tell they [the cheetahs] were just excited, but it became serious very quickly," she told the Herald.

Lion Tries To Eat Zebra-Striped Toddler At Oregon Zoo

A lioness at the Oregon Zoo thought she found herself the perfect meal when a Bend family recently brought a baby zebra to her enclosure.

There was just one problem -- the black and white striped "zebra" was actually a one-year old boy named Jack, who was visiting the zoo with his family. Despite the mix-up, the African lioness, who is affectionately named Kya, tried her best to push her way through the thick glass wall that separated the two so she could wrap her large jaws around little Jack's head.
The entire incident, which occured on April 26, was captured on video and uploaded to the Internet. The video has since gone viral. Jack was seemingly unfazed by the ordeal and his family can be heard laughing in the background. At one point his mother, Heather Baltzor, encouraged him to say, "hi kitty, kitty" to Kya the lion.
Baltzor discussed the unique interaction with The Huffington Post today.
"It was Jack's first trip to the zoo. We didn't even realize he looked like a zebra until we got home but a lot of the animals in the zoo -- the crocodiles and the jaguars -- apparently did. They would come up to the glass and look at him."
While many of the other animals were attracted to Jack, it was Kya who gave him the most attention.

Oregon Zoo Director Kim Smith told KGW.com it is not uncommon for the lions to interact with small children.

"She's using a typical prey behavior," Smith said.

The Huffington Post covered a similar interaction last year between a toddler named Trent Higley and a 400 pound lioness named Angie at the Colorado Springs zoo.

Delio Rossi Fired: Fiorentina Axes Coach After Attacking Adem Ljajic

Fiorentina has made the decision to sack head coach Delio Rossi after he attacked midfielder Adem Ljajic during Wednesday's Serie A clash against Novara at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The 51-year-old trainer replaced the Serbian youngster after only 32 minutes of play when Fiorentina was 2-0 down, and Ljajic was not impressed with Rossi's decision.

The Serbia international sarcastically applauded his coach while making his way to the bench, thus infuriating the Fiorentina boss. Rossi pushed the 20-year-old against the back of the dug-out before aiming a punch at Ljajic.

The pair was then split up by other staff members and substitutes before things got out of hand any more than they already had, but Fiorentina has nonetheless decided to let go of Rossi.

"I have decided to fire the coach for what we see as a serious incident. I am sorry for Delio Rossi, because he's a good person. This is a serious matter, though. We will further talk about this tomorrow," club president Andrea Della Valle said of the decision to let the manager go.

Fiorentina eventually managed to salvage a 2-2 draw in the remaining 60 minutes of the game courtesy of two goals from Riccardo Montolivo.

‘American Idol’: Hollie Cavanagh peaking at right time

American Idol” trotted out 1960s songs first Wednesday night, then turned to British hits. The big surprise: Hollie Cavanagh, probably the most vulnerable contestant left, made the best impression.

Hollie ripped into “River Deep, Mountain High” with style and gusto. She was fearless, she looked lovely, and she wowed the judges. Steven Tyler praised her bluesy style. Jennifer Lopez appreciated the way she attacked the words. Randy Jackson confirmed that all three loved the performance.

Phillip Phillips changed up “The Letter” substantially and gave it a sound that was alternately bluesy and jazzy. Jackson said he made the song his own. Lopez didn’t know the song, but said he was compelling. Tyler said he missed the melody, but said Phillip got away with it.

Skylar Laine gave a peppy rendition of “Fortunate Son” that obscured the song’s anger. But the judges were generous. Lopez praised her energy. “Fabulous,” Tyler said.

Jessica Sanchez looked pretty but tried so hard on “Proud Mary” that the strain was evident. Lopez loved seeing her move. Jackson said the performance OK.Skylar put her country style on “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me.” It was very nice, but it didn’t have the force of Hollie’s performances. Jackson said she, too, was peaking at the right time.

Jessica delivered a beautiful “You Are So Beautiful” effortlessly. It was probably her best moment on the show. Lopez said she captivated the audience. Jackson said she had rebounded in the second round.

Joshua went with the Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody,” and he pushed too hard. He suffered in comparison to the restrained Jessica. The judges, however, gave him a standing ovation. “You’re one of the best singers ever on this show,” Jackson said. Lopez said he was one of the best singers in 50 years.

To fill out the two-hour running time, “Idol” split the contestants into groups. Joshua and Phillip were joined on a subdued “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” which went off-key a few times. Tyler, however, said it was perfect. The three girls joined forces for “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher,” which was ragged but still better than the guys’ duet.

Carrie Underwood and Coldplay perform on the results show at 8 p.m. Thursday on Fox (WOFL-Channel 35 locally).

Who goes? It will be a shame if Hollie is out, but she would leave at her best. Joshua may have overdone it on the second song, and the judges’ lavish praise may have backfired with viewers. Phillip was the weakest singer, but it’s highly unlikely he’s leaving.

Horrify Accident - Montreal taxi hit-and-run

MONTREAL - Disturbing images are circulating on the Internet, showing a man apparently being run over by a taxi cab in Montreal.

A 23-year-old man was rushed to hospital pre-dawn Sunday with serious but non life-threatening injuries.A 47-year-old taxi driver and some of his clients were being investigated, police said, with the possibility of criminal charges being laid. The incident occurred in a lively downtown district, filled with night stops and restaurants.

Const. Yannick Ouimet said it appeared the taxi driver was having an argument with three clients when he told them to get out. Things quickly degenerated at that point, Ouimet said.

"People were actually kicking the vehicle, causing some (damage) on the vehicle."

Images circulating on the Internet showed a taxi nearly hitting one man and then, moments later, rolling over him. Ouimet said police are aware of several videos circulating online and he said they are being used in the investigation.

'American Idol': Elise Testone Eliminated After Queen Week

It's a testament to Elise's distinctive, bluesy tone that she managed to survive far longer in the competition than I expected she would (even though she deserved to make it the whole way). But like Phillip Phillips and Heejun Han, the "Idol" machine never seemed like a perfect fit for her graveled, soulful authenticity. She's not marketable enough to be an "Idol," but she's certainly talented enough to become a successful artist in her own right. I'll miss her unique take on songs, but this wasn't a game she could win. She was joined in the bottom three by Hollie Cavanagh (probably the next in line to be eliminated) and Skylar Laine. The Queen Extravaganza, a band formed by original members Roger Taylor and Brian May through an Internet competition, opened the show with a performance of the Queen classic, “Somebody to Love.”

The top six visited the TMZ offices in Los Angeles for a few lessons on how to deal with the intrusive media now that they’re celebrities.

Season 10′s Stefano Langone returned to sing his new single, “I’m on a Roll,” with help from Ben J from New Boyz. Fellow season 10 contestant Casey Abrams was also on hand to give the top six some advice going into the “Idol” tour this summer.

Katy Perry was lowered onto the stage to sing her latest hit, “Part of Me.” She was backed up by troupe of dancers all wearing camouflage to go with the war zone-like set.

American Idol 2012 Top 6: Jessica Sanchez ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

"American Idol" is all about finding a singer who can move contemporary music forward. Who could not be moved, then, by the decision to force the final six contestants to sing songs from Queen? Yes, the band hasn't been relevant for 20 years, but at least they play "We Will Rock You" at NFL games.

Sensitive viewers would have noticed that Ryan Seacrest's hair seemed to be describing a peculiar vertical. This was because he was still sick minutes before the show. Yes, it was so bad that Randy Jackson was brought in to offer an anodyne voice over introducing Queen - of whom surely at best five percent of the voters had ever heard.Judges: Overall the judges are liking it but they aren’t giving the highest praise, except for Randy, who sounds like the president of the Jessica Sanchez fan club. Steven thinks rock is not her forte, but Freddie Mercury would have liked it. Jennifer said it was great but it needed more of a rock edge.Randy thought it rocked and Jessica can sing anything, but she needs to channel some Tina Turner vibe.

Obama Celebrity Ad: American Crossroads 'Cool' Video Slams President Over Fame, Economy

The Karl Rove-linked, pro-GOP super PAC American Crossroads is out with a new ad attacking President Barack Obama as a "celebrity president."

The 45-second video, entitled "Cool," edits numerous clips together meant to paint Obama as a celebrity icon who is an ineffective leader. The spot highlights Obama's recent appearance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," his performance of Al Green's song "Let's Stay Together," and even the CNBC interview in which he swatted a fly.

"Four Years Ago," the ad proclaims, "America elected the BIGGEST CELEBRITY IN THE WORLD." After ironically labeling Obama as "ONE COOL PRESIDENT," the video slams Obama over jobless figures and student loan debt among college graduates. The spot concludes with a question: "AFTER 4 YEARS OF A CELEBRITY PRESIDENT IS YOUR LIFE ANY BETTER?"

The new video plays like a sequel to the 2008 John McCain ad that portrayed Obama, inter-spliced with images of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, as "the biggest celebrity in the world."

Coastal Carolina Batting Stance Guy

Cal Ripken Jr. is not just known for owning the Iron Man title and playing in most consecutive games ever. He was also well-known for having thousands of different batting stances. As much as Ripken tinkered and experimented to find the stance that worked for him at any given point in his career, he never came up with anything quite as unorthodox as the style of lefty Alex Buccilli of Coastal Carolina.
When the Chanticleers' outfielder steps up to the plate, he sticks his front foot far outside the box, keeps his back straight while holding the bat above his head (similar to Kevin Youkilis) and nearly bends backwards. As the pitcher sets up to throw, Buccilli brings his front foot closer in and lifts his body a little higher off the ground before taking his swing.Weird, right?Maybe it's not that bizarre when you consider all of the strange batting stances in the majors these days (Youkilis, Carl Crawford, Ichiro etc). Regardless, the routine seems to be working for Buccilli, who's batting .313 in 115 plate appearances so far this season.

William Levy Can't Keep His Hands Off Cheryl Burke On 'Dancing With The Stars

After earning the nickname "The Latino James Bond" last week, William Levy returned to "Dancing With the Stars" last night with more intrigue and sex appeal than ever before.

It was Motown Week last night, but that didn't stop the Cuban telenovela hunk and his partner Cheryl Burke from turning in their sexiest, raunchiest performance ever on "Dancing With the Stars".

Burke, who famously ripped Levy's shirt open during a steamy Salsa dance a few weeks ago, couldn't keep her hands off the Cuban actor on last night's show, caressing his face and pulling up his shirt to show off his 12-pack abs.

But, she wasn't the only one getting handsy.

William couldn't take his hands off his dance partner either--he spent most of the performance with his hands on her waist and thigh. The sexy couple ended their performance with William lying on top of Burke horizontally. Caliente!

"William. Absolute and utter filth -- and I loved every minute of it. I'm telling you, there are some ladies there in a frenzy," said judge Bruno Tonioli. "Please don't jump off the balcony. You two are wild for sex," he said. And judge Carrie Ann thanked William "on behalf of all of the women out there."

Obama 'Slow Jams The News' With Jimmy Fallon (VIDEO)

On Wednesday night, President Barack Obama did what no president has done before: He slow jammed the news with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on "Late Night."

Stepping in for regular news jammer Brian Williams, Obama slow jammed one of his policy positions over the smooth vamping of house band The Roots.

"I'm President Barack Obama, and I, too, would like to Slow Jam the News," said Obama before taking his place on a stool and laying out his agenda.

"What we said is simple: Now is not the time to make school more expensive for our young people," Obama said to wild applause from the college crowd at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Fallon then stepped in to offer some slow jam support. "You should listen to the President," he crooned. "Or as I like to call him, the Preezy of the United Steezy." Watch as Obama tries to stifle his laughter in the background.

Jones vs. Evans at UFC 145 Full Fight

ATLANTA – After more than one year of nothing but chatter, the time for talk is over for Jon Jones and Rashad Evans.

The friends-turned-foes finally get the chance to let their actions speak for themselves, as they square off for the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight title Saturday night at a sold-out Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA.But when Jones said last March that if UFC president Dana White demanded they meet, "then I guess that's what would have to happen,” Evans left Jackson’s team, Jones won the title and the feud was on.

Their match has been in the works ever since that night, but injuries to both kept delaying the inevitable. As their schedules got out of sync last year, Jones – now 24 years old and considered perhaps the greatest prospect in the sport’s history – beat former champs Quinton Jackson and Lyoto Machida. Meanwhile, Evans, the 32-year-old veteran, beat ex-champ Tito Ortiz and Phil Davis, the latter of which officially set up Saturday’s contest.Brimage was awarded scores of 30-27 and 29-28, while Blanco was given a 29-28 from the third judge. Following the bout, the two got into a gymnastics battle of sorts, each trying to one-up the other with backflips and cartwheels, drawing further boos from the fans in Atlanta.

“I was watching him for a long time and waiting for the right opportunities. It wasn't the same guy I thought I was going to fight. He was running from me a bit,” said Brimage.

“I was trying to pick my shots. I wanted to outdo the main event and even though it's not the fight I thought it would be, I'm happy.”

* Travis Browne (12-0-1) meets Chad Griggs (11-1) in a heavyweight bout.

* Matt Brown (15-11) takes on Stephen Thompson (6-0) in a welterweight contest.

* Montreal’s John Makdessi (9-1) squares off against Anthony Njokuani (15-6) in a lightweight match.

Djokovic cried after his grandfather's death

Hours before playing his third-round match against Alexander Dolgopolov at the Monte Carlo Open on Thursday, Novak Djokvic received the heartbreaking news that his beloved grandfather had passed away. The world's No. 1 player walked off the practice court in tears, covering his face with a towel. The emotional moment was broadcast by Canal+.

Given his emotion and the proximity of his match against Dolgopolov, tennis journalist Christopher Clarey wondered if Djokovic would even play. Longtime tennis correspondent for The Times, Neil Harman, felt that Djokovic's emotion would lift his performance.Neil Harman tweeted that Djokovic did not hold a press conference after the match.

Djokovic lived with his grandfather, Vladimir, in Belgrade when Serbia was bombed for 78 days and nights in 1999.

With the win, the Serbian star advances to the quarterfinals, where he will play the winner of Robin Haase and Thomaz Bellucci.

Teen girl Tashey D. Edwards arrested after brutal fight over twitter beef

This video is brutal, another senseless act of violence that could have been avoided, only IF people would think before they act. As a black female to watch other black females act this ignorance is disgusting. The girl and her crew acting like savage monsters, and then “we” blame everybody but ourselves, whatever goons participated in this kind of violence deserves the maximum punishment allowed. Tashay D. Edwards, a 19-year-old Ohio native (who was seeking internet fame at any expense, not only did she get the attention she was seeking, now she has a permanent record attached).

Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez's Lakers 'Kiss Cam' Liplock

They’ve never been shy about their displays of affection, and last night (April 17) Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were spotted locking lips once again.

The “Boyfriend” stud and his “Wizards of Waverly Place” babe attended the Los Angeles Lakers vs San Antonio Spurs game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

And when it came time for the “Kiss Cam,” Justin boldly showed his love for Selena by planting a big smooch on her smacker for all to see.

However, not even Bieber and Gomez’s romantic vibe could save the Lakers from losing to San Antonio, 112-91.

2PAC Performs at Coachella as Hologram

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre brought Tupac Shakur back from the dead for a showstopping finale to the first Coachella weekend.

Shakur appeared as a hologram on the festival stage after a tribute performance of his hit California Love and the late star 'teamed up' with Snoop on Ain't Nothin' Like A Gangsta Party after an eerie solo rendition of Hail Mary from beyond the grave.

The ghostly apparition drew mixed reactions from those watching the set online, with one fan calling it "wrong on so many levels" and others stunned by the Tupac trick, tweeting, "WTF!"

But most rap fans were thrilled, including the stars in attendance. Katy Perry tweeted, "I think I might have cried when I saw Tupac," while her pal Rihanna boasted: "TupacBACK unbelievable IWASTHERE STORY4myGrandKidz (sic)."

Estelle added, "TupacBack Yeaaaahhhh omfg ... Real tears" and actress Teresa Palmer declared, "Coachella could not be cooler right now."The duo also performed Dre's first solo single, Deep Cover (187), Nuthin' But a G Thang and a brief cover of House of Pain's Jump Around.

The rap superstars closed their 60-minute set with their classic hit Still D.R.E. and it was clear the reclusive producer/hitmaker had really enjoyed what one Twitter fan called "Epichella." He left the thousands at the festival with the line, "Coachella, I wanna say thank you for all the love over the years."

Taking to Twitter after his performance, Wiz Khalifa told fans, "(expletive) 2pac Ahhhhhhh!!! I Performed Wit Dr Dre And Snoop Dogg!!! Awww (expletive) Im So Happy To Be Alive. The acts will repeat their performances and festival time slots at a second Coachella next weekend.
