Obama Celebrity Ad: American Crossroads 'Cool' Video Slams President Over Fame, Economy

The Karl Rove-linked, pro-GOP super PAC American Crossroads is out with a new ad attacking President Barack Obama as a "celebrity president."

The 45-second video, entitled "Cool," edits numerous clips together meant to paint Obama as a celebrity icon who is an ineffective leader. The spot highlights Obama's recent appearance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," his performance of Al Green's song "Let's Stay Together," and even the CNBC interview in which he swatted a fly.

"Four Years Ago," the ad proclaims, "America elected the BIGGEST CELEBRITY IN THE WORLD." After ironically labeling Obama as "ONE COOL PRESIDENT," the video slams Obama over jobless figures and student loan debt among college graduates. The spot concludes with a question: "AFTER 4 YEARS OF A CELEBRITY PRESIDENT IS YOUR LIFE ANY BETTER?"

The new video plays like a sequel to the 2008 John McCain ad that portrayed Obama, inter-spliced with images of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, as "the biggest celebrity in the world."
