Taylor Swift Wins Milestone Award Academy of Country Music Awards 2015
The 50th annual Academy of Country Music Awards continues. After winning Song of the Year for her single "Automatic" earlier in the night, Miranda Lambert performed "Mama's Broken Heart" and "Little Red Wagon". She was introduced by Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, whose film "Hot Pursuit" will feature a song by her.
Afterwards, Alabama hit the stage to announce the winner of Vocal Group of the Year. The award eventually went to Little Big Town, who bested other big names like Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry and Zac Brown Band. Taylor Swift received one of the Academy of Country Music “Milestone Awards” on Sunday. Swift’s mother Andrea, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, gave her an emotional introduction, during which she recalled the superstar’s journey from shy young girl to international icon.
As usual, Swift was gracious and humble in her acceptance of the honor, telling the crowd at AT&T Stadium in Texas, “I’m so proud that I was taught to treat people with love and respect [by] country music.”Before Andrea Swift took the stage, the ACMs showed a montage of Swift’s greatest moments in the ceremony over the years, starting with her 2007 breakthrough performance and then countless awards.Taylor‘s mom, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, talked about watching her daughter grow up into the woman she is today.
“I’m so unbelievably proud that I learned to treat people with kindness and respect from country music,” Taylor said in her acceptance speech.
