Dan Henderson def. Tim Boetsch knockout (punches) Round 1
NEW ORLEANS – On the brink of being counted out, Dan Henderson once again batted aside the doubters with his concussive right hand.
Henderson (31-13 MMA, 8-7 UFC), 44, who had gone 1-5 in his past six outings, ended a night filled with concussions with the second-fastest one of the night, stopping Tim Boetsch (18-9 MMA, 8-5 UFC) in 28 seconds. Dan Henderson was all too happy to make that ten. Just second into the fight, Henderson connected with Boetsch's face while moving backward. Boetsch never recovered, and Henderson earned his second victory in his past seven fights as commentator Jon Anik screamed "don't bury the man yet."
Henderson, 44, keeps his name relevant by defeating the resilient Boetsch. A loss would have likely meant a forced retirement by the UFC. Boetsch is now 2-5 in his last seven after winning four in a row and beating huge names in Yushn Okami and Hector Lombard. The former Pride middleweight and welterweight champion was able to turn back the clock on this night against The Barbarian. Make no mistake what Dan Henderson is looking to do out there in the fight, loading up on the right hand, he connected early with a straight right on the chin of Boetsch. With Tim rocked, Hendo pushed the action, forcing him against the cage where he landed one clean right uppercut to put Boetsch down and out. Dan Henderson adding Tim Boetsch to his extensive list of knockout victims in just 28 seconds.
