Alex Rodriguez silenced a Fenway Park crowd by depositing an eighth-inning pinch-hit 3-0 pitch over the Green Monster to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead over Boston while moving himself into a tie with Willie Mays for fifth place all-time with 660 career home runs.It was the first career pinch-hit home run for the Yankees third baseman.
Rodriguez was originally given the day off after entering Friday’s game hitless in his last 11 at-bats before pinch hitting for designated hitter Garrett Jones.
After his milestone blast, Rodriguez now has six home runs and 14 RBIs in 21 games this season.
