Al Horford Ejected for Elbow on Dellavedova Hawks vs Cavaliers

Dellavedova earned a technical for his role in the incident, but that’s minor compared to what the Hawks will lose for the rest of this almost-must-win basketball game.He was on the receiving end of a kick that had Taj Gibson ejected in a critical game against the Chicago Bulls last series and he was on the receiving end of an elbow that saw Al Horford ejected in a critical Game 3 on Sunday night. There’s debate about whether the foul was really warranting an ejection for Horford, as it looked like it might have been accidental. Then again, this is in the context of Horford believing that Dellavedova went for Kyle Korver’s ankles in Game 2 to injure him and finish his series early. This time, Dellavedova got a technical for diving at Horford’s knees during the play. Which begs the question: if Dellavedova did enough to get a technical, how was it one-sided enough that Horford was also given a Flagrant 2? A Flagrant 1 would have been much more reasonable for Horford. As it is, losing their best player for a crucial Game 3 arguably kills the Hawks’ chances at coming back in this series.
