Stunning Suarez hat-trick leads Liverpool to victory

Luis Suarez lit up Anfield with an excellent hat-trick and strike partner Daniel Sturridge also found the back of the net as Liverpool cruised past West Brom and into second place in the Premier League. The Uruguayan scored twice in five first-half minutes before completing his hat-trick with a header early in the second half. After James Morrison fired home a penalty for West Brom, the Premier League's top scorer Sturridge rounded off the scoring in the 77th minute. It was difficult to argue with that assessment after seeing Suarez ghost past two West Brom players to slot home. By the end of the game there were plenty of more superlatives to use - and that was not even taking into account a superb overhead kick with 10 minutes to go which crashed against the bar. All this against a side with the third-best defensive away record in the league having conceded just two. Suarez's second and third goals both came from headers, one almost from the edge of the penalty area, to make it 36 goals in his last 46 matches and 57 in 101 Liverpool appearances overall. That is exactly why Henry was so unequivocal in his hard-line stance over the summer when he refused to countenance a sale even after a £40,000,001 bid from Arsenal and complaints from the player about the club reneging on a deal to allow him to join a Champions League club. Even when substitute James Morrison converted from the spot to reduce the deficit Sturridge ensured the afternoon ended on a high note with a delightful 20-yard chip.

Demarius Reed found dead in Apartment Building

Eastern Michigan University football player Demarius Reed was found shot to death early Friday and authorities have launched an off-campus homicide investigation. Ypsilanti Police Sgt. Thomas Eberts tells the Ann Arbor News that a man's body was found in the hallway of an apartment complex about 7:15 a.m. by his roommate. The victim appeared to have been shot to death.Reed had played for the EMU Eagles for three seasons and had recorded 44 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns during that span.
He was having one of his best seasons despite the team’s 1-5 record during the 2013 campaign, hauling in 15 receptions for 185 yards and a score. He started every game and was the fourth-leading receiver on the squad. Eastern Michigan is currently slated to face the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday, Oct. 19. It’s unknown if this tragedy will impact those plans, but it is certain that the entire team will be playing with heavy hearts if the game must go on.

Barnet vs Wrexham fight 3 reds Edgar David punch

Barnet player-manager Edgar Davids was sent off for striking after a heated exchange in the dying moments of their Conference Premier clash with Wrexham. Wrexham's Stephen Wright, who wore Davids' elbow on his face while trying to wrestle the ball from the former Juventus and Barcelona star, was also shown a red card in the same altercation on the edge of the Barnet penalty area. Once the dust had settled, Dean Keates then scored from the resulting free-kick to make it 1-1 with an impressive curling effort over the wall to cancel out Anthony Acheampong's seventh minute strike. The recipient was Wrexham's Stephen Wright, who was later sent off himself, and the clash happened amid what ITV Sport have classified as "a 20-man brawl." Turns out Davids was playing in central defence for his Blue Square Premier outfit. Turns out he's still every bit as competitive as always. Sunday's match finished 1-1, which leaves Davids' team ninth in the conference as they seek promotion to League Two.

Michael Beasley Hitting Himself On the face after travel call needed treatment

According to multiple reports, via SI.com, Heat forward Michael Beasley, in his first game back with Miami after signing as a free agent this summer, had an incident in his first game. Despite scoring nine points and adding two rebounds, Beasley reportedly required "medical treatment" after punching himself in the head out of frustration.Aside that, Beasley looked pretty good in his first run for the Heat this preseason (according to reports, the game was not televised). He had 9 points in 9 minutes, was diving on the floor for loose balls, scored driving in transition and posting a guy up. He also apparently tried on defense. We’ll see how that goes over time. If Beasley can be a sixth man kind of offensive boost off the bench for the Heat this season it would be a big boost. I’m not about to overrule Beasley’s history off one preseason game, but it was at least a good start. Well, except for the punches.

Grant Balfour, Victor Martinez trade F-Bombs Fight

Grant Balfour has a couple of nasty pitches in his repertoire and plenty of filthy words in his vocabulary. The Oakland A's closer could be heard using at least one of those profane words during a heated confrontation with Victor Martinez of the Detroit Tigers on Monday. The fiery 35-year-old Australian pitcher was on the hill for the A's in the ninth to close out Game 3 of the ALDS. Martinez led off the frame for the home team and the pair engaged in an unlikely argument during the at-bat. Tensions rose after the Tigers' designated hitter fouled off a 1-2 fastball. He then stared back out at the mound just a bit too intently for Balfour's liking.First off, thank you, MLB Network, for having the field mic'd up properly. That was great. If you'd like to hear the uncensored, NFSW version, YouTube has it up for the time being. Anyway, it appears Balfour screamed at Martinez to stop looking at him. Martinez wasn't glaring or attempting to stare him down -- at least not excessively, I don't think -- so this looks to be a case where the always-tightly-wound Balfour let his rage get the better of him while Martinez didn't back down.

Pirates fan jumps off the Clemente bridge after the pirates Video

If your dumb friend jumped off a bridge, would you do it, too? The answer is “no.” No, you would not. But if they’re dead set on it...well, it’s a difficult thing to stop. No one was going to deny one Pittsburgh Pirates fan, who stripped down to his skivvies and jumped off the Roberto Clemente Bridge to celebrate his team’s 6-2 wild-card victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Following the 6-2 win, a fan decided it would be a good idea to jump off one of the many bridges outside the ballpark -- it appears to be the Roberto Clemente bridge given the proximity of the stadium -- and into the Allegheny River. The YouTube video description says the guy swam to shore and was fine, but ... yeah. Here's the Video:
